Advancing Industry Collaboration at Malaysian Palm Oil Forum China 2026

The Malaysian Palm Oil Forum (MPOF) China 2026 brought together industry leaders, researchers, manufacturers and policymakers in Shanghai for strategic discussions on innovation, sustainability, nutrition, oleochemicals and market development.


The programme featured opening remarks by MPOC Chief Executive Officer Ms. Belvinder Sron, and a keynote address by YB Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad, Minister of Plantation and Commodities, Malaysia, alongside insights from renowned speakers across the industry.


The forum highlighted Malaysia’s role in supporting China’s evolving oils and fats market through reliable supply, technical expertise, MSPO-backed sustainability and stronger industry collaboration across food manufacturing, specialty fats, personal care, home care and industrial applications.


The programme also included a Networking Dinner, with the presence of Sponsors and Supporters who contributed to the success of the programme.


Malaysia Expands Strategic Engagements Across China’s Oils and Fats Industry

13–14 May 2026 • Shanghai and Zhangjiagang, China

YB Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad, Minister of Plantation and Commodities, Malaysia, led a strategic engagement programme in Zhangjiagang, China, accompanied by YBrs. Tn. Hj. Shafie bin Taib, Deputy Secretary-General (Strategic Planning & Management) of the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities, Malaysia; MPOB Chairman Datuk Mohamad Helmy Othman Basha; MPOC Chief Executive Officer Ms. Belvinder Sron; and personnel from the Ministry.


The delegation visited Taiko Palm-Oleo (TPOZ), a subsidiary of KLK OLEO in Jiangsu, for a briefing and plant tour to gain deeper insights into how Malaysian palm oil supports China’s downstream industries.


The engagement continued at China Oil and Foodstuffs Corporation (COFCO) East Ocean Oils & Grains Industries, where the delegation was welcomed by Ms. Ye Huiqing, Chief Financial Officer of COFCO Group. Discussions provided valuable insights into China’s edible oils value chain, covering processing, distribution and supply, while strengthening dialogue on supply reliability, market demand and the role of Malaysian palm oil in China’s food manufacturing sector.


Following the visits to TPOZ and COFCO, the delegation proceeded to the Yihai Kerry R&D Centre, a subsidiary of Wilmar. The visit further strengthened engagement with key industry and technical partners, while offering a closer view of how palm oil is developed and applied across foodservice, specialty fats, edible oils and industrial sectors within China’s downstream market.


The programme concluded with an engagement at PORTSIM Shanghai, the Palm Oil Research and Technical Service Institute of the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB), which supports Malaysian palm oil through product research and development, technical collaboration and market development initiatives.


Djazagro 2026 Expands Trade Opportunities for Malaysian Palm Oil

12–15 April 2026 • Algiers, Algeria

MPOC, together with Naturz Group Sdn. Bhd., Mac World Industries, Able Perfect Sdn. Bhd. and Premium Vegetable Oils Sdn. Bhd., engaged with buyers on product applications, quality expectations, consistency and supply reliability during Djazagro 2026 in Algiers, Algeria.


These initial exchanges laid the groundwork for MPOC BizMatch Algeria, where discussions progressed into more structured, focused and commercially driven engagements through targeted business matching sessions. The presence of H.E. Rizany Irwan Muhamad, Ambassador of Malaysia to Algeria, and Mr. Lakhdar Madjene, First Vice President of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, further underscored the importance of strengthening Malaysia–Algeria palm oil trade relations at both commercial and institutional levels.


MARA 60th Anniversary: Celebrating Entrepreneurship and Industry

MPOC participated in the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities, Malaysia Pavilion during the MARA 60th Anniversary Carnival, held from 1 to 5 May 2026 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.


Held in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), the carnival highlighted the role of national institutions and industries in supporting entrepreneurship, education and economic development. Visitors to the pavilion explored palm-based food and non-food products, alongside educational materials showcasing the versatility and practical applications of Malaysian palm oil.


MPOC HQ Hosts Norwegian Ambassador for Strategic Dialogue

7 May 2026 • Selangor, Malaysia

MPOC hosted H.E. Marianne Fosland, Ambassador of Norway to Malaysia, accompanied by Mr. Knut Øyvind Granli, Senior Adviser at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at MPOC HQ on 7 May 2026.


The engagement provided an opportunity to share pertinent information on the Malaysian palm oil industry, including its economic role, sustainability journey, trade relevance and smallholder development. MPOC Chief Executive Officer Ms. Belvinder Sron presented an overview of the industry and the Council’s role in supporting informed and constructive engagement with international stakeholders. The meeting also served as a platform to exchange perspectives and strengthen institutional understanding between Malaysia and Norway.


Beauty Istanbul 2026: Expanding Opportunities for Malaysian Oleochemicals

7–9 May 2026 • Istanbul, Turkiye

MPOC, together with co-exhibitors Halonas Chemical and PhytoGaia, successfully participated in Beauty Istanbul 2026, highlighting the potential of Malaysia’s sustainable palm oil solutions and high-quality oleochemicals for Türkiye’s cosmetics and personal care market.


The engagement provided a platform to connect with industry professionals, showcase palm-based innovations and strengthen Malaysia’s sustainability positioning within the global beauty industry.
