Connecting Markets: MPOC Trade Visit Engages Central Asian Buyers
13–15 April 2026 • Carey Island & Petaling Jaya, Selangor and Johor Bahru, Johor, MalaysiaMPOC hosted a Trade and Networking Visit for 33 buyers from Central Asia, including Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, aimed at strengthening market engagement and building long-term trade partnerships through direct industry exposure.
The programme commenced at the SD Guthrie Berhad Palm Oil Experience Centre in Carey Island, where participants gained a comprehensive overview of the palm oil value chain, from cultivation and plantation management to processing and sustainability practices.
The visit then extended to Johor Bahru, where buyers toured key downstream facilities, including FGV Johor Bulkers, Wilmar International and Premium Vegetable Oils, providing insights into refining, logistics, specialty fats development and product innovation.
BizMatch @ Trade Networking Visit
16 April 2026 • Sheraton Petaling Jaya Hotel, Selangor, MalaysiaThe BizMatch session, a key component of the Trade Networking Visit, featured 352 pre-arranged meetings complemented by active informal discussions. Participants highlighted the strong quality of engagements and MPOC’s role in facilitating meaningful business connections.
Eighteen Malaysian companies took part, reporting robust buyer interest with potential sales reaching RM47.28 million (USD11.95 million), underscoring the programme’s commercial impact.
The session was further strengthened by a visit from H.E. Mr. Karomidin Gadoev, Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan. His engagement with both Malaysian companies and international buyers reflected strong institutional support for deepening palm oil trade ties between Malaysia, Uzbekistan, and the wider Central Asian region, while reinforcing confidence in Malaysia as a preferred supplier.
Strategic Engagement Meeting with World Research Institute (WRI) and World Agrifood Innovation (WAFI)
30 March 2026 • Selangor, MalaysiaThe Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) conducted a strategic engagement with key partners, including the World Resources Institute (WRI) and World Agrifood Innovation (WAFI), to strengthen collaboration in China. Led by CEO Ms. Belvinder Sron, the discussion highlighted Malaysia’s sustainability approach through Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) implementation, enhanced traceability and yield optimisation, with a strong emphasis on smallholder inclusion supported by government initiatives.
Both parties explored avenues for deeper collaboration, including joint research initiatives, participation in platforms such as the Malaysian Palm Oil Forum (MPOF), and continued engagement to enhance market insights and technical cooperation.
UzFood 2026: Strengthening Market Engagement in Central Asia
1–3 April 2026 • Tashkent, UzbekistanMPOC, together with industry players including SOP Foods, Wilmar International, KLK Alami, Unitata Berhad and Premium Vegetable Oils, participated in UzFood 2026 in Tashkent to strengthen market presence and engage with emerging buyers in Central Asia.
His Excellency Mr. Ilham Tuah Illias, Malaysian Ambassador to Uzbekistan, visited the exhibition and engaged with participating companies, underscoring continued support for bilateral trade and industry collaboration. The participation reflects expanding opportunities in Central Asia, driven by rising demand and evolving supply preferences.
CTRE Programme 2026: Strengthening Tourism Industry Understanding of Palm Oil
1 & 16 April 2026 • Carey Island, Selangor, MalaysiaMPOC hosted two sessions of the Malaysian Palm Oil Continuing Tourism-Related Education (CTRE) Programme 2026 on 1 and 16 April at the SD Guthrie Palm Oil Experience Centre in Carey Island, engaging 44 members from the Selangor Tourist Guides Association (SGTGA) and 40 members from the Malaysian Tourist Guide Council (MTGC). These sessions form part of MPOC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen industry understanding and highlight Malaysia’s progress in sustainable palm oil.
Participants received first-hand exposure to plantation operations through guided tours conducted by Elaeis Gardens, including briefings on oil palm cultivation, harvesting demonstrations, and visits to the Biodiversity Park and the historic Hatter’s Castle. The programme was further supported by expert-led sessions on industry fundamentals, sustainability practices and responsible nutrition, equipping guides to play a more informed role in shaping visitors’ perceptions of Malaysia’s palm oil industry.
KLK Sustainability Convention: Navigating Market Access and Compliance
6–7 April 2026 • Tawau, Sabah, MalaysiaAt the Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad (KLK) Sustainability Convention in Tawau, discussions centred on market diversification, market access and evolving developments across key regions, particularly the Middle East— issues that have a direct impact on day-to-day business decisions for producers, traders and millers.
MPOC was honoured to share perspectives on the global market landscape for Malaysian palm oil, highlighting how certified practices, traceability and tightening compliance requirements are increasingly shaping market access. A key takeaway from the session was clear: sustainability compliance is no longer optional. Expectations are rising across Asia Pacific, MENA and South Asia, and those who are prepared will be better positioned to capture emerging opportunities.
